1971 sorgt der erst 22-jährige Andrew Lloyd Webber mit dem Rockmusical »Jesus Christ Superstar« für Furore und landet einen Meilenstein in der Musicalgeschichte. 720 Shows in New York, eine gefeierte Oscar- und Golden Globe nominierte Verfilmung, Songs, die im Ohr bleiben. Mit »Wie kann ich ihn nur lieben«, »Gethsemane« oder »Hosanna« wurde das Werk zum Kult. Die letzten sieben Tage Jesu – erzählt aus Sicht des enttäuschten Judas, der zweifelt, provoziert und die Nähe Jesu zu Maria Magdalena infrage stellt. Autor Tim Rice bricht mit klassischen Erzählmustern und rückt die Widersprüche ins Zentrum. Glaube trifft Zweifel, Menschlichkeit auf Macht – eine Passionsgeschichte, die bis heute nachhallt.
