Description of the event
Im Schlusskonzert der 40. Tage Alter Musik erwartet die Besucher ein außergewöhnliches Klangerlebnis, wie es die gotische Dominikanerkirche wohl noch nie erlebt hat. Neben der 40-stimmigen Missa sopra Ecco sì beato giorno und der 40-stimmigen Motette Ecce beatam lucem von Alessandro Striggio (ca. 1536–1592) stehen weitere großbesetzte Motetten von Francesco Corteccia, Claudio Monteverdi und Orazio Benevoli auf dem Programm. Hervé Niquet, der Leiter der spektakulären Aufführung mit dem Pariser Vokal- und Instrumentalensemble Concert Spirituel (40 Vokalisten und 14 Instrumentalisten), bezeichnet Alessandro Striggios Missa als „die gewaltigste kontrapunktische Musik, die zwischen 1500 und 2000 in Europa geschrieben wurde“.
