Description of the event
Ecos de Siboney - das sind die Enkel und offiziellen Nachfolger des weltberühmten Compay Segundo, dem wohl berühmteste Musiker des Buena Vista Social Clubs und Komponist des weltbekannten Titels „Chan Chan“. Von Compay haben sie gelernt, wie der traditionelle Son authentisch zu spielen ist. Er war es auch, der wollte, dass seine „vertonte Poesie“ – wie er seine Kompositionen gerne nannte – weiterhin in seinem Sinne interpretiert wird. So entstand die Gruppe „Ecos de Siboney“, die in Kuba schnell populär wurde. Die mehrfach ausgezeichnete Gruppe lässt den traditionellen Son Cubano weiterleben, haben aber auch mit eigenen Kompositionen erfolgreiche Hits geschrieben, die weltweit interpretiert werden. Genau das war von Anfang an die Idee ihres Großvaters – Compay Segundo!
